Lords of Chaos
Lords of Chaos is the result of extensive research into the Black Metal scene by Michael Moynihan and Didrik Soderlind.
The book should be of immediate interest to Burzum fans, because effectively 2/3rds of it is about Varg Vikernes.
It contains a very extensive interview with Varg, his mother and many people closely connected to him.
This is perhaps the first time that the whole story of Black Metal and Burzum has been told in a single publication,
and you will learn more from reading this than you will from any of the mainstream music magazines. Moynihan leaves
no stone unturned (did you know that Varg supplied the ammo with which Dead shot himself? or that his brother works
installing fire alarms in churches?!) and he has an obvious journalistic talent. Had it not been for a tendency
to veer toward the sensationalistic (read Varg's comments on book), this would have been
a masterpiece. Even as it is, it is still absolutely essential for anyone with any interest at all in Burzum or
Black Metal.
